Deze fjord van circa 30 km is vernoemd naar de Nederlandse cartograaf en uitgever Gerard van Keulen (Amsterdam, 1678 \u2013 1726).[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row column_structure=”3_5,2_5″ _builder_version=”4.21.0″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}” theme_builder_area=”post_content”][et_pb_column type=”3_5″ _builder_version=”4.21.0″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}” theme_builder_area=”post_content”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.22.1″ _module_preset=”default” hover_enabled=”0″ global_colors_info=”{}” theme_builder_area=”post_content” sticky_enabled=”0″]<\/p>\n

Na het ontbijt zouden we hier in groepen met de zodiac boten aan land gaan voor onze eerste natte landing. Dat betekent dat we vanaf de zodiac in het water zouden stappen, dus moesten de rubberlaarzen aan die we aan boord te leen hadden gekregen. Wij zaten in groep 5 en zouden als vierde groep aan land gaan, de groepen roteerden bij iedere landing.<\/p>\n

We trokken onze waterdichte broeken aan, het Helly Hansen windjack dat we van Hurtigruten hadden gekregen met daaronder verschillende warme lagen. IJsmuts op, handschoenen aan en het fototoestel in een waterdichte rugzak. En natuurlijk het zwemvest. Het was iedere keer een hele onderneming om alles aan te trekken, zeker omdat het aan boord erg warm was. Gelukkig was er voor iedere groep een 10 minuten waarschuwing en dan trokken we snel de laatste dingen aan en gingen naar beneden.<\/p>\n

Gelukkig vormde het geen beletsel voor de landing. Het expeditie team ging als eerste aan land om de landingsplek te scouten en te controleren op de aanwezigheid van ijsberen. We maakten een wandeling in het gebied dat door het expeditie team gecontroleerd werd. \u201cLaat niets achter, alleen je voetstappen\u201d was het decreet. Vertrap zo min mogelijk, raap niets op en neem niets mee.
